Explanation of DNA Profile Analysis

Eleven discrete locations on several different chromosomes were used to construct the DNA profiles for each individual tested. Table 1 shows John Doe-Alleged Father to have identification markers 9 and 12 at the CSF1PO STR chromosome location and Johnny Doe-Child to have identification markers 12 and 13 at the same STR chromosome location. This suggests that identification marker 12 was passed from the alleged father to the child. This data further suggests that identification marker 13 was passed from the biological mother to the child. Results from the other STR chromosome locations are also listed in Table 1. Each marker has an established probability of occurrence in the general population and among different ethnic groups.
