The GeneTree DNA Aunt/Uncle Avuncular lab testing kits are for one alleged aunt or uncle, and 1 niece or nephew. The Aunt or Uncle DNA Lab/Home Test (also known as Avuncular Testing) can be done for 'Legal' or for 'Personal' purposes. This test is designed to measure the probabilities that the 2 alleged relatives submitting specimens for testing are related as Participant 1 being either aunt or uncle to Participant 2.
Samples are collected from two alleged relatives at home. The samples are generally obtained using a cheek swab. However, DNA can also be extracted from hair, tissue, or fluids with cells in them, e.g. blood for additional fee using GeneTree Special Specimen Collection kit. After you collect the sample, send the test kit to our lab facilities. The results from the Aunt/Uncle DNA Analysis are guaranteed to indicate either >80% (inclusive) or <20% (exclusive) probability of the relationship. The probabilities can be increased greatly if other known relatives are available for testing. Results may vary between 1% and 99% accuracy.
